Quotes-by-Sri-MMy Master said, "The first step is to understand your self, your strengths, your weaknesses, what you actually are. And not start with super-imposing the idea that I am Great, I am Blissful, I am this being and that being. Let us find out who I am? Which means where do I stand? What is the position that I start?"

Dear Mahuji/ Sri M
Does this mean I start with identifying myself as lazy, hyper sensitive, irritable ,honest etc etc when I go on it starts to feel like there is no hope ... I might never reach there with the baggage I carry.

You identify yourself only with the Absolute, but you have to acknowledge that you are here on earth to remove your imperfections...so you have to start with getting to know your mind and who you are, with all your strengths and weaknesses...and how you can use your strengths, plus the wisdom of the masters and holy books, to overcome your weaknesses. You have to work with yourself, contemplate, introspect, and find out how to root out the impurities and desires from your mind. Knowledge is the important weapon through which you can burn out your ignorance, but it is Bhakti and devotion that reigns supreme, and also must be applied along with knowledge (and viveka/discrimination/intellect) at all times. Sadhana is primarily self-control, i.e. control of mind and senses by withdrawing mind/senses from sense objects, pleasures, distractions (not interacting much with the opposite gender) and worldly wealth, and focusing the mind on attaining truth and God. The teachings and sayings of Ramakrishna are invaluable and help us dispel our darkness.

Thank you Master. This is an important learning for me. After all, I should start from where i am right now.

Making oneself self supporting and recharging on his own to accomplish tasks is only the wish of any Master. It is our fortune if we get such great guru like shri M sir. Such sensible quote is real worth emulating
